The English idiom " Don't judge a book by its cover" is a metaphorical phrase that means one shouldn't judge the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone. So, we shouldn't judge a person or thing only by outer beauty.Because there is a proverb- " All that glitters is not gold."
We often make mistake to choose the right one. We often judge a thing or person only by outward appearance. But it's not right. We should judge a person or thing by inner beauty. Sometimes we think that the man is so small and he can't do anything. But size doesn't matter. There are many small men but they do many big big acts. Sometimes we judge a person by seeing his smartness, well-dressed etc. But internally he may not be a good person at all. Because all that glitters is not gold. We shouldn't judge a person by his outward appearance. Because outward appearance doesn't convey a person's real identity.
Now I will tell you a story that will teach us not to judge a person by his / her outward appearance only. You may know the story. So let's get started. Sheikh Saadi was a great poet. He generally used to put on simple dresses. One day the king of Iran invited him to his palace. The palace was too far away from his home. So he started his journey for the king's palace a day ago. But on the way to the king's palace Saadi took shelter in a rich man's house at night . But at that time Saadi was simple in dress. So, the rich man and his servants didn't show him any respect. The rich man treat him as a simple man. They gave him very poor food at dinner. However, Saadi didn't reveal his real identity.
In the morning the poet left the rich man's house. He reached the king's palace. The king showed him much honor and gifted some beautiful dresses. However, a few days later, on his way to back home the poet again took shelter in the same house. But at that time the poet was well-dressed by the king. This time the rich man received him very cordially and offered him great respect. This time Saadi was entertained with rich and delicious foods. But when foods are displayed Saadi began to put these foods in his pocket. The rich man became surprised by seeing that. Then he asked the poet why you are putting the foods in your pocket? . The poet replied that his dress deserved the foods. Because few days ago he had been treated in very poor way because of his poor dress. Then the rich man realized his fault and he begged pardon to the poet.
This story teaches us that we shouldn't judge anything by outward appearance only. So dear readers
